The other day I was feeling pretty down about this blog life – which seems to be happening a lot lately. Mostly because I constantly loose sight of what I’m doing. I ALWAYS question my ‘why’. So, I did what I naturally do, being a blogger, & wrote a post on Instagram about it. I asked you guys your tips on how to get out of a rut and the response was amazing! By the amount of response and a few of your tips, I was instantly reminded of my ‘why’. It’s to connect with others and inspire them. I was instantly reminded that the community I’ve been working so hard to create is right in front of me.
This also reminded me that I am not the only one that needs help sometimes. So, I compiled a list of ideas that help me get out of my rut that will hopefully help you, too. Some you guys left me and some of my own:
make a change
Something simple like getting a hair cut will make you feel better. Or, you can put your hair in your hairstylists hand and let her color it pink!
get outdoors
Get that fresh air, girl! We both know there is nothing better than fresh air. Try stopping and admiring your surroundings, too. To stop and notice all the little details that make up everything around you, that you’d other wise ignore, is amazing.
exercise
No brainer for me. Exercising is something I do at least 3 times a week and always always puts me in a better mood.
Seriously, I have been hitting the gym at 6AM and it leaves me smiling through the day. Gross, I KNOW.
try something new
Loved this suggestion! I don’t know about you, but I get really caught up in the normalcies of my day to day life. Which can totally cause a “rut” for me. Try something new! A new restaurant, a new route to work, (I take the road with the ocean view any chance I get), a new fitness class!
watch youtube videos
This was another good ones, I actually did this the same night I posted my Instagram. Some dang YouTuber’s are hilarious and can instantly change my mood. My current fave is Liza Koshy.. I can laugh for ever watching her videos.
listen to music
This is a personal favorite. I believe music can make you feel so many things and instantly change any mood. I love to listen to music while I edit, write, clean, exercise..
meet a friend for coffee
you’re friends should always make you feel better. Sometimes you just need someone to talk to that is willing to listen to you ramble. It helps sometimes! (or all the time)
write
I have found that sitting down and letting myself get in the writing zone helps a ton. I actually crave being in that mind set from time to time.
I think it’s normal to feel a little down from time to time, but the important part is how you handle it. I am someone who def needs a little reminding and I’m so happy you guys are here to help.

I find when I start feeling this way, it’s time to stop isolating and go connect with people-especially those friends I find inspiring! Coffee, walks (yep-outside!), dinner, drinks, whatever!

Getting outdoors and listening to music does wonders for me when I’m in a slump. Also, chatting with family and friends can do the trick too. Cute shoes, by the way!

When I am in a rut creatively, the best way to get me out is finding new places to be inspired. so that means reading different blogs or reading a book I would never have before.

Getting outdoors definitely does help. Having a three year old definitely can get the best of you sometimes haha.

You are definitely not alone! I have never been in a blogging rut until recently. And I do find that it correlates to my personal life being in a rut as well. A new hair do, some exercise, and good old fashioned girl time has helped me a ton this month!! And I have 2 house projects that have been weighing on me so I am in the process of completing those and I swear I feel like a new woman! 😉 Goodbye rut!!
