Is it just me, or does traveling somewhere new make you so happy? Even if it’s just for a few days? A few friends and I decided to take a mini trip and spend a weekend in Savannah, Ga. I honestly couldn’t tell you exactly how this idea came about but, it’s about a 5-6 hr drive to be in a new place. Plus, the open container law doesn’t hurt the situation either.
This was our first time in Savannah, so I asked you guys many times on IG for some recommendations and you guys did not disappoint.
Savannah is such a cute place – so much history and beautiful architecture. You cannot turn a corner without seeing a beautifully built building or tile details on each entryway. I love to travel to cities like this because it reminds me how much different everywhere else is. I live in a VERY small place compared to this.
Don’t even get me started on the coffee, the food and the fact that people actually care about how they look there. I say this a lot, but where I live it’s just a whole different.. interesting…world.
Where to stay:
The Desoto – Such a beautiful place! We opted for a room with balcony with a view of the city and would highly recommend. For the time you do spend in the room and for when you first wake up the view is stunning. It’s about a 15 minutes walk from River Street and the Historic Downtown. It was the perfect location.
One thing to keep in mind in a city like this (coming from an anti-city girl) is the parking! We opted for valet, because I was not going to try to fight for parallel parking or leave the car in a random parking garage.
Where to eat:
Coffee:
The Coffee Fox – This is in downtown, has a long line, but it’s worth the wait.
Blends Coffee Boutique – THIS. This is highly recommended by me. The coffee just tastes SO pure and unlike anything else. They have coffee from all over the world and will help you pick out which coffee to choose based on the flavor you want. I got the Puerto Rico blend because it has “hints of peanut butter” to compliment my vanilla latte. It’s just fun, ok?
Brunch:
Little Duck Diner – need I say anything else?! The food is amazing, but what really got me was the fact that they put rubber duckies in your champagne drinks! & you can take them home and name them, like we did. Welcome to the fam, Ricky & Bobby.
Dinner:
The Grove – This I downtown and is absolutely beautiful. The menu can be appealing to everyone. I would totally label this as a great place for a foodie because of the fresh ingredients and the presentation.
The Emporium – This was super close to our hotel and came highly recommended
Drinks:
The Bohemian Hotel – A++ for aesthetics, view and drink selections. Super cute rooftop location at the end of River St.
The Grove Rooftop – Savannah is riddled with rooftops bars. The Grove is super cute – think marble countertops and gold accents everywhere.
The Grey Market – Such a cute place for craft beers, wine and homemade food.
What to do:
You can honestly walk out of your hotel and find so much to do, but here is what we did.
River Street – When we were not eating or drinking – we walked River Street. There is shopping, coffee shops, rooftop bars and the famous candy shop.
