My dry scalp and I have a serious love hate relationship. I have pretty bad psoriasis which makes up the hate portion, but when it’s cleared up and fresh I’m loving it.
If you’re lucky enough to not deal with that, but have a milder version of dandruff this post can totally help you too.
I get a balayage of blonde in my hair every couple months and want to preserve that as best I can, so maintaining my scalp was a pain point I wanted to get rid of. If you also have blonde hair you know how easy it is to have it turn yellow on you if not cared for properly.
After doing research, I found out that companies actually make exfoliator for your scalp! I was super intrigued because I mean psoriasis can causes patches in your scalp and I thought this would be amazing to be able to scrub it out.
I came across IGK Cleansing Walnut Scalp Scrub and ultimately chose it over competitors because it’s main active ingredient is Apple Cider Vinegar. Dandruff is primarily caused by yeast (yes.) and it makes sense that ACV is what we’re using to combat it.
Aside form the ACV it has sugar scrub with walnut oil to nourish and peppermint oil to soothe your scalp. I basically die for this product.
To protect my hair from the color I also use the Kenra Color Charge shampoo and the Kristen Ess Purple Conditioner. But, I have a specific step-by-step process for it.
4 Steps:
- Use the Cleansing Walnut Scalp Scrub to massage into your scalp ONLY. I try to make sure I solely get this products on/ around my scalp & massage it until it all dissolves.
- While the scrub it still on my scalp I use the Kenra Color Charge shampoo from the top of my head to about where my hair hits my neck. Leave it in for a few minutes and rinse it out.
- Use Kristen Ess Purple Conditioner all over my hair to preserve the blonde and add in the moisture.

I am now convinced to get the IGK Cleansing Walnut Scalp Scrub because of its ACV component. My scalp gets pretty dry and dandruffs form everywhere. I hope this works for me too! Thanks for sharing your post and tips! 🙂
