Yes! Another super fun and easy DIY! Modern Masters was kind enough to reach out to me and offer this Patina Metal effects paint for one of my DIY projects and obviously I said yes! This stuff is so cool! It can give any paintable surface the metal effect through oxidation!
Modern Masters made this easy easy for me to complete, their kit comes complete with the items you’ll need to give the item of your choice a face lift.
I tend to keep bottle that have unique shapes for later projects and I’m so happy I do! For this DIY I am using Patron bottle, a Stirrings mixer bottle and a Whiskey mixer bottle. Yes, all components of an alcoholic beverage. Maybe it’s a sign?
What you need:
Clean Bottles
Modern Masters Patina Oxidizing finish kit
Painters Tape
First
Tape each of your bottles above the area you want painted. Now, I don’t have any fancy tips on getting it straight. I have a pretty good “leveling eye” so, I just used my best judgement with that.
Second,
Time to prime! Taking the primer and stirring stick from the kit, stir well. Using the paintbrush from the kit layer on the primer.
Do two coats waiting 30 minutes in between. Once you have the modern masters primer on wait 12 hours for the next step
Third,
Next we bronze! Stir the bronze well and using the second brush provided, bronze away!
You will want two layers waiting 30 minutes between applying layers. While the second layer is still wet grab the Patina oxidizing spray.
Spray each vase with the Patina Oxidizing spray to lightly cover the area. Do not saturate!
Let it dry and watch it turn the prettiest blue!
Fourth,
Style them – Add daisies!
I hope that you enjoyed this DIY! I would love to see what you guys come up with!
