Once I figured out how to get the old candle wax out of those pretty candle holders,it was all downhill from there. I only buy candles that are in something that I can later repurpose.
For this DIY I am using an old candle from Bath & Body Works that came in a really pretty blue glass. I will show you how I turned it into a plant holder!
1. Freeze candle
When you’ve finished a candle put it in the freezer for a few hours. I usually leave them in there for longer, usually until I am ready to use it. This makes the wax very hard and easier to remove!
*TIP: YOU CAN MELT THE LEFT OVER WAX WAX IN A TEALIGHT WARMER INSTEAD OF THROWING IT AWAY.
2. Remove Candle wax
Use your knife and begin pushing it down into the sides of the wax. You’ll see that the wax easily breaks apart.
Do that a few times until the wax can easily fall out.
3. Remove wicks
Once all the wax is out, you pliers to pull what is left of the wicks. They are usually hot glued down, so just pulling on them won’t do justice!
4. Wash it out
Ta-da! It was that easy. Now you have a cute little candle holder turned vase!
Replanting:
I just had to go walking through the garden section and found this PERFECT succulent. Like, so perfect.
1. layer 1 inch of rock
because there is no drain and succulents don’t need a ton of water, the rocks act as a drain!
2. Replant
Turn the succulent upside down and it should slip right out of the original pot. Gently separate the soil from the roots over the vase so the loose soil falls into the vase. Add teaspoon of fertilizer.
Once you have the soil separated, dig a little hole in the middle to plants your succulent with the roots.
3. Water
lightly water the replanted succulent and you’re all done!
Caring for the succulent
1. Lots of light!
2. Water one every two weeks.
3. Serenade.
wait, what?
I hope you enjoy! What kind of DIYs do you enjoy? I like the easy ones LOL
